Full-Time at the Cyclotron

The dog smelling what-uck on a pole,

suddenly I know I’ll be an awful,

dim and recognizable character

in my ex-wife’s next novel. How sudden

is such a thought? Faster than curtains thrown

back on a world spackled with snow?

Where did summer go, cue the violins?

Bus seems slow while on it, quick when missed.

Pale being, you slip through minute’s netting

like minnows over a chessboard. Checkmate.

How did this red get here? I wonder if

de Kooning thought handed a loaded brush

for his last painting. Oh well, whoosh.
